Air conditioning loads in older buildings have been steadily rising as result of, increased staffing levels, greater use of heat generating business equipment and the installation of faster, more powerful servers.
This effect has put strain on the chillers installed to cope with the buildings original loading, worsened by the fact that the original chillers could be at least 10 years old, becoming less efficient and not least, subject to the latest F Gas Regulations and their impact on R22 chillers.
Coolmation is involved in a series of ongoing chiller replacement projects, but in almost every case, dimensions become a real issue. The space taken up by the original chiller is invariably insufficient to accommodate the new higher capacity one.
Seeing this a major obstacle not just for the company, but building owners, occupiers and maintenance company’s, Coolmation set its Italian chiller supplier Rhoss spa, a challenging target, to design and manufacture a new radical space saving chiller specifically for the replacement market.
The result is the all new TCAE Y Pack range of chillers and reverse cycle heat pumps, 7 models with capacities from 150kW to approaching 350kW, available in standard, silenced and super silenced form, with EER ratings up to 2.87 and ESEER up to 4.25.
As an indication of the reduction in footprint, the largest in the range is just 6m² as opposed to the 10m² footprint of its predecessor, a staggering improvement brought about by Rhoss’s massive investment in research and development and their manufacturing strengths.
With Refrigerant R410A, multi scroll compressors and the unique Adaptive Function Plus control logic developed in conjunction with the IT department of the University of Padova, these chillers don’t just save space, they save energy as well.
Additional space saving and installation costs can be achieved by opting for integral chilled water circulating pumps, single or double to provide standby and automatic change over, expansion vessels and buffer tanks, up to 1100ltr capacity, with safety valve and pressure gauge.
